How to Spot a Fake Panda Dunk

Panda Dunk (Nike Dunk Low Black/White) has been the most-searched sneaker on Google globally for two years running. It's also the most-repped shoe in existence. Here are the five checkpoints that separate top-batch from cheap knockoff.

1. The white panel cream tint

The retail Panda Dunk uses warm off-white with a slight cream tint, not pure bright white. Hold a piece of copy paper next to your shoe in daylight — if the shoe looks whiter than the paper, it's a cheap rep using bleached-white leather. Top-batch reps nail this warm tone; entry-batch reps almost never do.

2. The Swoosh overlay stitching count

Retail Panda Dunks have 8-9 stitches on the front curve of the Swoosh and 6-7 on the back curve. Count them in your QC photos. Reps often use uniform 7-8 stitches everywhere, which looks 'cleaner' but is actually a tell. Top batches match retail's asymmetric count.

3. The Nike heel embossing angle

The 'NIKE' text embossed into the heel is at a slight upward angle (2-3°) on retail. Cheap reps go dead-flat which reads as 'wrong' to trained eyes even before you can articulate why. Check by placing the shoe on a flat surface and using a ruler as reference.

4. The tongue Nike Air font

Nike Air text on the tongue should be 8mm tall exactly. Bring a ruler to your QC photo review — reps sometimes go 7mm (too small, letters look pinched) or 9mm (too big, looks off-proportion). Font weight also matters — retail uses bold italic; cheap reps use regular italic.

5. The insole heel Nike Air branding

Lift the insole. Retail Panda Dunks have Nike Air text printed on the underside of the insole in specific placement — 22mm from the heel edge. Reps often skip this branding entirely (they assume you won't look) or place it wrong. Top batches match retail exactly.

If all 5 check out

You have a top-batch Panda Dunk. LJR, PK God, and God Batch all currently pass all 5 checkpoints. Expect $65-$85 for this level. Anything under $50 will fail at least 2 of these — buyer beware.

If any 2+ fail

It's an entry-batch or knockoff. Fine for casual wear at arm's length, but obvious to anyone who owns real Panda Dunks. If you paid $80+ for one that fails 2+ checkpoints, ask for a replacement or refund — reputable sellers replace failed QC without question.
